pansin ko sa bts... ang mga front rims nila is single wall. sa bagay hindi siya masyadong naaabuse gaya ng rear. pero, ok ba kung gumamit ng ordinary single wall na rim para sa weight saving? as of now naka dx32 ako sa harap.

okay lang naman kahit anong rim sa harap as long as you don't do big moves sa front. Pero kung mala damon watson na ang gap to front mo, DX32 is good. or kung gusto mo mas magaan talaga hanap ka ng syncros na wide rim or yung haro. kung ayaw mo talaga ang dx32 for front akin na lang hehehehe

PostSubject: Re: single wall front rim   Mon Dec 28, 2009 1:06 am

Hello! Good Day to all. I'm Benjie from Batangas but presently working here in the UAE. I am interested in trials and would like to learn the art of trials. I would like to ask what is the normal width of rim being used in trials (front and rear). I have a 26" bike and planning to replace my rims. By the way, I have a 32H x 32mm double wall rear rim and 32H x 20mm single wall front rim (both Alex Rims). Is my rear rim already adequate? Please advise. Thanks and mabuhay!

i think that would do sir!

try to target the important ones.
the following needs to be trial specific if you want to learn fast on doing tricks on trialbikes

you might want to consider the :

-frame
-long handle bar
-rised stem
-etc etc etc..

i forgot what link but try to search for it on the beginners thread, it helped me on making one..

@ zteg43, JANG: Thanks for the response/information... Maybe it's better to have a trial specific bike so that I can learn faster.

trial specific frame is good. but learning the basics would would mean literally destroying the bike. so might as well, try learning on what you have right now. then upgrade when you already know the basics.

what's more important is the gear ratio. and the stem length and rise.

korek! hehehehe!

-you can learn the basic (which is really important) on an ordinary bike
try to practice: trackstand and pivot.. learn to know your balance 1st...

Ok. Yup! Need to learn the basics frst on what I am having now then upgrade afterwards. Here's my gear ratio:20t front, FSA ISIS crank (170mm) and a 11-21 cog (9 speed). FSA FR330 handlebar (1" rise, 700mm), FSA 230 stem (90mm center of stem - center of h.bar, maybe 20 degrees rise only, eto siguro dapat palitan). Both Avid v-brakes. Yung frame ko Giant Trials Comp, 13.4" bb to seat post, mukhang pang-street. There is no trial bikes shop around here and if you find some spare parts here it is very expensive...

Thanks again.

if dadaan kang hongkong we would greatly suggest "Biketrialstation" try to check their website as well..

gearing ko noon is 22-18, since nag FFW na ko its now 18-15,

siguro 20-17 or 20-16 try mo sa bike mo... stem rise is good since di ka pa naman gagawa ng mga astig na moves... balancing muna sir

Ah, ok! Thanks for the welcome. Again, thanks for all the info/advise.

hi benjie!

nice rig!

medyo low BB lang... anyway, start to lessen the weight by removing excess baggage, like bike lock, reflector, and shorten the seatpost then slam the saddle.Very Happy

kung sakali din, single speed mo na rin. and adjust the bar sweep a little forward.

pag nagawa yun, mismo na!Smile

btw, stock or 26" should use 175mm crank arm for leverage and gear ratio should be: 18t fw-15t cog or 16t cog Front free (wheel crank), or 22t sprocket-18tcog or 19tcog (mtb crank)

to get same feel on a 20t sprocket do the following equation...

18 divided by 16 = 1.125 or 22 divided by 19 =1.157

so on a 20t it should be like this:

20 divided by 1.157 = 17.2

so 20t - 17t is almost the same as 22t - 19t

i hope you get what im saying here. hehehe....
